This practical course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) based on the ISO 42001 standard. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will learn how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve an AIMS within their organization. This course is designed for individuals who will be directly involved in the implementation and management of AI systems according to ISO 42001.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the detailed requirements of ISO 42001.
  • Plan and scope the implementation of an AIMS within their organization.
  • Establish the context of the organization in relation to AI and identify relevant stakeholders.
  • Define AI policies, objectives, and processes aligned with ISO 42001.
  • Conduct AI risk assessments and implement appropriate risk treatment measures.
  • Develop necessary documentation for the AIMS.
  • Implement controls related to data management, AI development lifecycle, and validation.
  • Establish processes for monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation of the AIMS.
  • Implement processes for addressing nonconformities and achieving continual improvement.
  • Understand the requirements for internal audits of the AIMS.

Course Outline:

Day 1 :

Module 1: Detailed Review of ISO 42001 Requirements

  • In-depth analysis of each clause of the ISO 42001 standard:
  • Clauses 4: Context of the Organization (Understanding the AI landscape, stakeholder needs)
  • Clause 5: Leadership (Commitment, AI Policy, Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities)
  • Clause 6: Planning (Addressing Risks and Opportunities related to AI, AI Objectives and Planning to Achieve Them)

Module 2: Establishing the AIMS Framework

  • Defining the Scope of the AIMS
  • Developing the AI Policy and Objectives
  • Establishing Organizational Roles and Responsibilities for the AIMS
  • Planning the AIMS Implementation Project
  • Document Control and Management

Module 3: Risk Assessment and Treatment for AI

  • Identifying AI-related Risks and Opportunities
  • Methodologies for Assessing AI Risks (Bias, Security, Privacy, Ethical Concerns, etc.)
  • Planning Risk Treatment Actions
  • Integrating Risk Management into the AIMS

Day 2:

Module 4: Implementing AIMS Controls

  • Clause 7: Support (Resources, Competence, Awareness, Communication, Documented Information specific to AI)
  • Clause 8: Operation:
  • Operational Planning and Control for AI Development Lifecycle
  • Data Management and Governance in AI
  • Requirements for Validation and Verification of AI Systems
  • Human Oversight and Decision-Making in AI
  • Management of Changes to AI Systems

Module 5: Performance Evaluation and Improvement

  • Clause 9: Performance Evaluation:
  • Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis, and Evaluation of the AIMS and AI performance
  • Internal Auditing of the AIMS (Introduction and Planning)
  • Management Review
  • Clause 10: Improvement:
  • Addressing Nonconformities and Taking Corrective Actions
  • Continual Improvement of the AIMS

Module 6: Preparing for Certification

  • Understanding the ISO 42001 Certification Process
  • Key Considerations for a Successful Certification Audit
  • Resources and Next Steps for Maintaining the AIMS
